About My Journal
When I created my journal I wanted to use it mainly to express thoughts and stories for my eyes only. Then I started using it as a way to keep in touch with my local friends. Now it's also a way to track my spiritual growth. As I write this I'm thinking of posting some public stuff in the hope of meeting new people with similar interests. Really, this is a catch-all for me and I love it.

About Me
The Basics:
With the exception of my friends who actually know me, I prefer to go by my online name of Rose. As of writing this I'm 24 years old and still in college. I'm currently finishing up the last of my gen-eds for a BA in Theatre, and working on my prerequisites for getting my certification in elementary education for Social Studies and Math. I live in Michigan and have since I was 8 years old. I'm in a steady relationship, and have been since October 31, 2001. His name is Tom and I love him dearly. I hope to spend the rest of my life with him.
My Interests:
Along the lines of my theatrical interests, I love stage combat - specifically sword fighting (and I'm pretty darn good at it too ^_-). I also participate in my local renaissance festival. I make almost all of my costume pieces and I really enjoy the art of costuming and sewing. Continuing on that vein, I also like knitting, embroidery, and cross stitch. I've also been known to pick up a latch hook project every now and then. I can craft a lot of things, such as the ceramic pieces I produced in high school, but I'm not so great at drawing and painting (I would love to learn!). I can color pretty well though and I really know my color theory.
Moving on, I love to read, particularly fantasy and a little (guilty pleasure) romance. I also enjoy studying history. I am particularly enamored of Scotland and it's people, though I don't know as much as I would like. Actually, I've been there (along with England, Ireland, and Wales). I play Dungeons and Dragons and even run my own Ravenloft game.
Let's see here... I like to watch anime and I am trying to learn Japanese. My favorite fairy tale is Beauty and the Beast. Which brings me to the fact that I love Disney. I prefer the more classic material (such as the princess movies). The television channel is just not up to the standard I would normally expect from them. My favorite place is Disney World; I've been a total of three times. My most recent trip was with my boyfriend in Spring of 2007 and we'll be heading back this October. I really can't wait!
I'm an animal lover. I have two cats (while I still live with my parents - school and all that). I'll be getting my own cats and dogs as soon as I'm in the appropriate situation, probably rescues. I love horses and riding. I started when I was 10 at the all girls horse camp Black River Farm and Ranch. After I became too old for camp (when I turned 16), I started taking home one of the horses over the winter. His name is Scout and I did that for three years. Finally I realized that I just didn't have the time while I was in college to make it work and so I had to give up both Scout and riding for the time being. That would have been in 2002. I'm missing horses pretty badly right now. Since I'm trying to lose some weight, I've set a weight goal for myself when I will start riding again. It's a good motivator.
Finally I'll discuss my interest in Wicca. I consider myself Wiccan and I'm not ashamed of it. I've been investigating it since middle school but I've only recently begun to make it an active part of my life. I have found a friend willing to share it with me and we are growing together.
And that's all I can think of right now.
